Lighting Snag Tanguay

Pending a physical, LW Alex Tanguay will be donning a Tampa Bay Lightning jersey next year.

This move adds to the very busy off-season for the Lightning, signing free agent defenseman Mattias Ohlund, and drafting highly touted prospect Victor Hedman from Sweden. Tampa Bay also resigned D Matt Lashoff to a two-year deal. These moves should help the team improve on last year's not so stellar performance, finishing with an NHL worst 24-40 record.

Tanguay gives the Lightning a top tier forward that will play alongside of fan favorite Vinny Lecavalier. When Tanguay is healthy he is a precision passer that can also put the puck in the back of the net. His resume includes 193 goals, 378 assists and a Stanley Cup championship. Tampa Bay fans have to be drooling over the Lightning's attack which also includes Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis.

There is no reason that the Lightning wont be able to compete this year. This acquisition might have just given them that little push over the hump. A balanced attack and a greatly improved defense could have this team turning some heads.
